The School Council - Voice of the Pupils

At the beginning of a new school year, children at Ravensdale usually vote for their class representative for the School Council.

The voting is organised in the style of a General Election. Each year group selects potential candidates, who then set about campaigning for votes from their classmates.

Pupils had to write short speeches, telling their classmates why they would make a good School Council representative. They thought about their own personal qualities and what they might like to do to improve the school for the pupils.

After a tense round of campaigning, the results were announced in an assembly and the children below were selected to represent their classes. The School Council meets regularly to give the "pupil voice" in decisions about how to improve the school.
